Stop or My Mom Will Shoot!

As the boys get older it seems more difficult to find time to be together.  With one a high school senior who's involved in just about everything plus a part time job and the other one playing high school baseball they are always on the go.  Some days texting is the only form of communication we have.

I was so hoping that before Halloween we could head out to the local orchard for some quick pictures.  When they were younger it was a yearly trip for pumpkins as well as apple pies and I always managed to get some great pics.  I wanted to go back so bad this year and take pictures in the same spots with the same poses as when they were younger but *sigh* it wasn't meant to be.

Even this weekend the oldest was scheduled for JROTC Color Guard practice and work.  Next weekend he has color guard competition and the youngest has District Band competition.  Then the following weekend is Thanksgiving.  Where does the time go?  It will be Christmas before we know it and I won't have any pics for Christmas cards.  So, this morning we made the time to head downtown for a few pics.  I knew I was only going to have about one and a half hours to take pics before oldest was off doing his thing.

During the Veteran's Day parade the weekend before {seeing a pattern yet?} we were downtown and I noticed several areas in close proximity to each other that would provide great backdrops for pics.  So after a quick trip to the ReStore this morning for more tiles to make coasters we headed to our first stop.

This is called Riverwalk.  It's part of the city's walking/biking greenways trail and is highlighted by a pedestrian bridge that overlooks Barren River.

Next was downtown near the square.  I loved the loading dock off one of the downtown alleys as well as the iron gate and brick work on some of the older buildings downtown.  We even found a pink flamingo hanging out.

The"photo shoot" finished in our allotted time but there are still other places downtown I would like to go like the Railroad Depot and WKU campus.  The boys are good sports when it comes to my taking pictures but I think these locations will have to wait till spring since I'm pretty sure the boys were tired of being in front of the camera.....

Once I got home I began work on our Christmas card.  Yeah, I know these pics don't quite invoke winter or holidays but you know how it is to schedule time in our family.  I went to My Publisher since I had received an email for 10 free Christmas cards, free shipping, and 20% off any additional cards (expires 11/21/11).

Here's a preview of our card.  It's really blurry but there's no way to get a better pic until I receive the cards which hopefully will be within the next 10 business days. I've not used My Publisher before so fingers crossed they have good quality.

I took more pics of the oldest by himself since I want to use these for his Senior Pictures.  I think the loading dock ones are his favorite.  I know they're my favs!  Thanks for stopping by to look!
