Some people may not find this interesting but for anyone who deals with yarn knows that it can create pulling and tugging if the yarn isn't pulling easily from the center of the skein. I've had problems with not being able to find the end of the yarn in the center or have it been so knotted inside that it won't pull from center. In these cases I've either pulled from the outside or wound the yarn into a ball which rolls everywhere when trying to use the yarn.
This tip worked wonderfully. You can see the full instructions at their website but I made a couple of tweeks to their instructions.
Tweek #1: Cut a slit in the side of the tube to hold the end of your yarn while you're winding.
Tweek #2: Use toliet paper rolls (with the slit above) to store the yarn on. In other words, don't remove the yarn ball from the roll until you're ready to use it. The website recommend using a paper towel roll so you have more to hold on to while winding which is a great tip, however I noticed once I was done and pulled the yarn ball off if I wasn't going to use it right away that it was possible to lose the center pull string.
Anyone else found a can't-live-without tip on Pinterest they want to share? Comment with the link.
