My, oh, my! I have really been neglecting this blog the last few months, haven't I? Sorry 'bout that. Things have been crazy busy here at the vine. School started back and the high school senior has had me hopping with JROTC activities, college campus tours, school projects and scholarship applications amongst various other activities. And we certainly wouldn't want to leave little brother out either - at least baseball games are over now and only conditioning is going on. Fingers crossed I'll be able to devote more time to blogging over the next few months.
Even though I haven't been writing about it I have done a few projects over the last few weeks and now seems like a good time to catch up. So here we go.........
Project One: Tension Rod Storage
Inspired by this on Pinterest it was time to clear out the area under my kitchen sink.
Project Two: Updated Front PorchI have a postage size front porch. Just enough to get in the front door but not quite enough to put anything useful on it. Again gathering inspiration from Pinterest (as seen here) I had already changed out my door wreath.
I've been so chicken about painting my door. I have red paint waiting but worry it will be too much. I've considered a yellow but that makes me even more chicken. Black would be safe since I have black shutters however I'm afraid it would fade from the afternoon sun and look bad in a few months. So for now the door stays white....but I have no problem painting the door basket!! So out comes my bff....oil rubbed bronze spray paint!
I love this from Pinterest and think the height would work for my porch. Other than plants (and obviously pumpkins in the fall) I can't decide what would work on this as a year round design. So I'm putting this inspiration away till the spring.
But that doesn't mean that my porch needs to naked till then. I have two milk cans from a dairy farm that have sat in my shed for over six years. I decided one should at least come out to play. The old white paint finished was looking rather rough from previous years of display as well as sitting in the shed. So I introduced MC to my bff - ORB!!! A little bit of sanding with a wire brush to get the rust and chipping paint off and a couple of coats of spray paint gives the milk can new life. Can't wait to add some flowers and pumpkins for fall. Until then I pulled out a wood fall sign. Halloween is just around the corner so I'd better get myself in gear to purchase some pumpkins!
Project Three: Candle HolderYet again another Pinspiration!
Using a globe I picked up at the Goodwill for $1, a tuna can, and some ORB spray paint I put together this candle holder. Not sure where it will live yet but wouldn't it look great with some cranberries around the candle for Christmas?
Well, that at least catches up a few of the projects I've completed the last few months. I still have to finish the bookcase for the desk and frame out the flag in the boys' bedrooms. Not looking good to get the bookcase finished any time soon with the weather starting to turn rainy and cold - may be spring before that's complete. Anyone else got half started projects that will have to wait to be finished until the spring? Or been so busy with kids/school/activities that projects never seem to get done?
PSSST!! Young House Love is doing their second Pinterest Challenge so I'll be back in a few days to share my newest project(s)!!!
