Pinterest Challenge Overload

Yesterday I posted my completed YHL Pinterest Challenge project.  I had three pins that I was considering as my project and chose pin #2 the menu board as my challenge project.  Details here on that project.  The other two projects were just going to have to wait until another time.  But I was on a roll!  Why just stop with one project?  That's right - - I was an overachiever and completed all three inspiration projects this weekend with just a little twist.

As a reminder, here are the other pins I was considering:
Pin #1:  Painted Curtains
Pin #3:  Front Door Decor:

Where's the twist you ask?  In Pin #1 I liked the painted curtains but when I stopped in at a favorite thrift store, The Awesome Possum, I found these........
Yep, a set of the same peacocks in the photo!  Only $10 for the set.  I can so see these in a bright color like pink or turquoise but since I'm not certain where they will live I'm going with white similar to the inspiration photo.  Here they are in their temporary home - the main floor hallway.

After my stop at the Possum I made a quick run to Goodwill.  Here's where the last pin came together.  Although I love the wood basket holding the flowers on the door I knew to buy it would be the only way I'd get it.  And although I didn't find the cute wood basket at Goodwill I did find a metal wall basket that called my name for $2.  A stop at WalMart yielded a couple of different looks for the basket.

Door Before
Green Hydrangeas
Love me some orange mums!

The mums and little sprays were $3/bunch and $0.94/spray for a total of about $10.  The green hydrangeas were quite a bit more expensive at $8 a flower.  Although I like the green hydrangeas I feel like they get lost against the glass of the door so between that and the cost of the flowers I don't think they're a keeper.

So that completes all the projects that I did for the Pinterest Challenge.  I can't wait until tomorrow to see what everyone else has been inspired to create!

  2. Those peacocks are awesome, and I do see them looking amazing in a bright (peacock of course) blue or some other color.

  3. My grandma has those same peacocks. They look much better painted. If she gets rid of them I will have to snag them

  5. Pink peacocks! So cute and what are the chances you would find them at a thrift store right before the challenge? The orange mums make me ready for fall :)

  8. I "inherited" these exact same peacocks (and some owls) from my great grandmother. I have been planning to paint them off-white for quite some time, and this post has definitely convinced me to just do it! these peacocks must have been very popular haha!
