Baby Shower Guests "LEAF" Their Mark

A few weeks ago, my friend and I hosted a baby shower at her house.  More about the shower here, here and here.  A big trend right now is to use thumb/finger print trees at weddings rather than a traditional guest book.  Since the shower was loosely planned around a garden party theme a finger print tree would fit right in.

I purchased a canvas at Big Lots for $5.  It was not a stretched canvas because I was worried about the pressure on the canvas when people pressed their fingers down. I free handed a tree and filled in with  tester paint left over from the master bedroom redo.  I used painter's tape to create a space under the tree that I filled in with another tester paint left over from the master bedroom.  Yes, I had a hard time deciding on a paint color for the master.

The letters are scrapbook embellishments in a damask pattern that I picked up at Big Lots for $3.  They were attached with Mod Podge.
I decided at the last minute to add a baby in a blanket hanging from one of the limbs.  You can see it at the top of the above picture.  It was simply printed on the computer and attached using Mod Podge.

At the shower, we had a table set up in the front entry where all the guest could sign in using a green ink stamper pad.  We also put out a sharpie for everyone to sign their names.  It was such a great hit and turned out so cute.  The stamper pad was given to the mom-to-be so if anyone else wanted to add to the tree they could.

Baby Julia should be here any day and we can't wait to meet her!
